- Kenzo Kitakata
- Born in 1947 in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture. Graduated from Chuo University Faculty of Law.
Debuted in 1970 with ``To the Bright City''. In 1981, he broke new ground in hard-boiled novels with ``The Funeral Bell Harukari.''
In 1983, he won the Japan Adventure Novel Association Grand Prize and Eiji Yoshikawa New Writer's Award for ``Sleepless Night,'' and in 1985 he won the Japan Mystery Writers Association Award for ``Thirst Town.''
In 1989, he took on the challenge of historical fiction with ``Buou no Mon'', and in 1991 won the Shibata Renzaburo Award for ``Hagun no Hoshi''.
In recent years, he has also been active in Chinese novels such as Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and in 2004 won the Eiji Yoshikawa Literary Award for Yang Jiajang.
In 2006, he received the Shiba Ryo Taro Award for all 19 volumes of Suikoden, and in 2007 he received the Funabashi Seiichi Literary Award for ``Hokugunzuzu''.
